It’s a worm’s life
A small, jointless creature you can finish in an afternoon — and a doorway into sculptural felting.
Worms are how a lot of Felt Alive students fall in. They are small, they are funny, and they teach the whole craft in miniature: a core, a skin, a face, a bit of attitude.
Build the body
Roll a long, loose sausage of batting. Felt it on the pad with a yellow single, turning as you go, until it holds a curve but still bends. Taper one end for a tail. Leave the other slightly fuller for a head. Do not pack it into a stick.
Give it a face
A tiny felted eye, a pinch of darker wool for a brow. Blue for the last surface pass. The worm should look like it has an opinion. That is the Felt Alive test — if it feels alive, you are done.
